With so many distractions in our daily lives it's amazing
how much taking time out to quiet our minds can positively impact
ourselves and the greater world around us. Practice at the
WIlliamsburg Zen Center is always vital and enthusiastic. Even on days
where sitting the full session has been difficult I have never failed
to come away with a greater sense of calm and understanding. Genshu
has amazingly created a peaceful space for sincere practice within his
own home inside a bustling urban environment which serves to remind us
that our practice extends beyond the Zendo and permeates our daily
lives and interactions. We practice using the same litany and ritual
service that has been utilized for hundreds of years, yet this never
turns into something static or overly pretentious and serves to remind
us of the connection we share with those who have come before us and
those who practice now. Basically however it all boils down to all of
us sitting calmly together and experiencing our lives free of
distraction in order to achieve peace and clarity of action.
